Kevin Daniel Cahill is a Classical/Contemporary Guitarist from Scotland and graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Folkwang Üniversität Der Künst, Germany.

During his studies, Cahill held a deep connection to romantic and impressionistic works of composers such as Federico Mompou, Toru Takemitsu, Frédéric Chopin and Alexandre Tansman. This began a personal journey for Cahill to try and fuse these contrasting influences and styes within his own personal playing, development and output as a musician through a contemporary approach.

Cahill is an advocate and performer of 21st century music; he has commissioned several works for the guitar, supporting emerging composers and contributing to growing the diverse repertoire of guitar music. He is an active soloist and has recently given world premiers for newly commissioned music from composers Steve Goss, Laura Snowden, Ninfea Cruttwell Reade, Jay Capperauld and Richard Greer.

His diverse history of musical exploration has lead to the collaboration and release of several projects such as; Cahill//Costello (Gearbox Records) Graham Costello’s STRATA and noise rock outfit UNITS. His solo releases include; Somnium Quies I/II (Fallow Recordings) Future Relics & Dynasties.

Cahill uses his training in the classical arena to merge and fuse contemporary and impressionistic musical languages together through adopted classical techniques and approaches. His music has been described as “Classical guitar meet electric guitar ambiance and multi-instrument art-rock, an audacious synthesis of both worlds” This is Classical Guitar.

As a composer for theatre and media, Cahill has also written music for Sony, BMG and Audible.

Cahill is an enthusiastic Guitarist & Musician, passionate about performing & teaching, believing it is of the highest importance to enable students to thrive within music education. With over 18 years of experience, he currently teaches throughout many of the UK's top schools and privately. He also holds the position for Education Officer for The International Guitar Foundation, London.
